RSPB needs your garden bird sightings

Appeared on Space For Nature on 20th November 2003

The RSPB have launched a new garden bird survey. They want you tell them which birds come to your garden bird feeders between 22nd and 30th November.

 Details
This follows on from the very successful Big Garden Birdwatch which ran earlier in the year (see news for 26th March). This survey is a little different; this time only birds coming to food which you put out for them need be noted. Instead of counting individual birds, you are asked to count the number of visits made by each species.

As well as the 'hearts and minds' to be won by involving large numbers of people in real nationwide bird surveys, these kinds of counts really do yield valuable information of use to the RSPB and other conservation organisations. So why not take a little extra time to note down the birds which you see? The simplest way to enter your results is on-line, but you can also submit by post if you wish.
